Type 304 stainless cookware, which is non magnetic, high grade, high chrome is worth about 12 dollars a pound. So Stainless is still quite a bit cheaper than silver. Gold coated cookware bronze would be not that expensive and if the gold were 14 carat, would be suitably hard (280 or so Brinell) and corrosion resistant.

Cast iron, or steel is in my opinion the most effective, and has the handy facility of being able to repel invaders in a pinch. Iron will retain heat well too and is dirt cheap. If oiled well, it is as non stick as you need. If the pot gets a bit scaled, just use some beach sand and elbow grease.
