Perehaps the hoarding of gold is in anticipation of a terror strike whose impact will be primarily economic.

For what it's worth, I've always worried about a dirty nuke exploded on Wall St. Would make the area uninhabitable for a long, long time. The NYSE, unlike NASDAQ, is still a real market with real people doing paper trades in real time. Imagine the chaos if a dirty nuke goes off there.
