Why do you blame shorters so much? They have to buy back their shares. Net effect on stock - ZERO. Why don't you blame the long term holders who sold. They are the reason the stock went down. The shorters sold before they did. You're blaming the fox for being smarter.

The short interest for AMAT is pathetic and I doubt it has much of an affect. I show 42 million shares short this month which is 1.5 percent of float. It almost trades that in 1 day. But wait, the interest last month was 102 million. The shorters BOUGHT 60 million shares but AMAT hit a new 52 week low today.

Now who's fault is that?
