The problem is that the UN doesnt recognize that their integrity is at stake. Being the World policeman is not necessarily a good thing. You make few friends. Powell was booed at the SAfrica conference for castigating Saddam. If we are to invade we should do it based on the older doctine of national interest. And in order to do that it has to be effectively sold to the american people and a few of our key allies--Turkey, Great Britain are essential minimum.
Last week it was interesting to hear the german candidate say he would remove german anti-chem warfare folks from Kuwait if US attacked Iraq. By saying that he could end up with American blood on his hands. mike
