So then you consider US the inheritor of the mantle of european colonialism? I don't but if a nation is called upon to be the world policeman, that policeman often appears to use power arbitrarily leading to your characterization. If the US went the other route toward isolationism which is what buchanan really wants, then the folks in iraq and many other places in the world are doomed. What you need to do is tone down your rhetoric, be supportive of US actions and criticise when excessive force is used. Otherwise your anti-imperialism will hurt the very people you want to help far more than the US acting in a specific case with a heavy hand.
All of us have had run ins with the police at some point in our lives. Hard to live with them but impossible to live without them. And then of course you have the europeans whose legacy of imperialism and appeasement wont let them lead at all. mike
