As if Bush weren't the governor of Texas all the while and close personally and politically with Ken Lay. But somehow he couldn't see in to Lay's soul the way he could with Putin.

As if Bush didn't have Lay in the White House interviewing potential heads of the FERC. As if Lay and Cheney weren't secretly planning our energy policy. And as if Cheney wasn't out providing cover for Enron as they were ripping off California with illegal price-gouging schemes.

As the house of cards started to fall, Lay and other executives looted the company while the employees and shareholders got reamed. All the while Bush and Cheney sat on their hands.
