Detailed enough for you so you won't forget the story line... just a very rough sketch, a page or two, a very brief summary... the outline is only for your sake...

That may be the hardest part... but once you have a good idea for a story from beginning to end, then all you need to do is start writing the scenes one at a time, and add the dialogue... the more dialogue the better, people would rather read dialogue than a narrative description... let the characters tell the story in dialogue rather than tell the story in narrative... some narrative is necessary...
