BoE holds fire on rates for 10th month
Thursday September 5, 7:01 am ET

LONDON, Sept 5 (Reuters) - The Bank of England on Thursday, as expected, left its key interest rate unchanged at 4.0 percent for the tenth month running.
Although the economic data since the Monetary Policy Committee's last meeting have been fairly good, the stock market has fallen again in recent days to below the 4,000 level on the FTSE-100 index and fresh doubts have emerged over the health of the U.S. economy.

The MPC made no statement accompanying its decision.

Most economists now expect rates to remain at 4.0 percent until well into next year, especially as inflation remains tame, but a few think another cut might come in the fourth quarter. biz.yahoo.com
