Rents are declining at least in part because so many people are moving into their own digs - and all that really does is make the banks and mortgage companies the direct landlord of record, instead of being one step removed behind a rental building owner.

Of course, most people who own rental buildings actually have other assets for when things turn a bit sour, unlike the situation we have brewing here. Anything exposed to mortgage defaults down the road a bit is going to get nuked

Me too... gotta retire somehow I guess! Shows you what's going to happen to GOLD when it becomes obvious it's a bull market, any port in the storm as they say... and they're 'ALL THAT CASH' on the sidelines as Maria says.
