Jim, checking in from Minneapolis. So far the people I have talked to have been in small towns in northern great plains states. Their local economies have been mostly unaffected by the economic downturn. I suspect they never got the full benefit of the late 90s. One common theme everyone talks about are skyrocketing insurance costs. An independent long haul truckdriver I spoke with in North Dakota told me he is having trouble renewing his liability insurance (no violations) and that it looks like he will be forced to pay about 30% more. Before I left I was informed my health insurance is increasing 20% as of October 1. Of course we have no inflation. I see gold is doing well and it looks like we are getting ready for another run on 330. Has anyone ever listened to the Suzy Orman show. She may be the most annoying person on the planet and she knows everything. Enjoy your vacation.
