It might be interesting, but it is true, as well. I expect to be respected on the basis of whether or not I have earned it, and vice versa. I respect everybody to a different level. I judge people, and I honor the things I value (And, of course, I expect all people to give respect in accordance with their limited knowledge and natural values--whether or not they are thoughtful or perceptive).

I do not expect people to respect me if they disagree with an essential moral belief I hold when it is applicable to the the issue of "respect". As I said...I would not respect them...

We are always much more than what others may see. We know little about people we interact with. In face-to-face people are very careful (usually) to be somewhat dishonest or reserved with strangers or casual aquaintances. Here on SI, people are more forthcoming (having disguised their address)--which is why there is so much anguished emotion expressed here, and available at the touch of a button...
