G,

Over the years, the unassuming billionaire has demonstrated a principled consistency and a high regard for his fellow shareholders. Buffett, who long eschewed options, has never sought to elevate himself above other shareholders in Berkshire Hathaway or in the companies in which he invested, or to profit as they suffer

Unfortunately, Buffett is in the minority on this one. This downturn has made me more skeptical of the brokerage houses/hedge funds than I was before. 2002 is a defining time for me in the respect that my entire life I will attempt to do business without giving business to criminals like C and JPM, and large brokerage houses. If you use a large brokerage house, consider a discount broker, if you use a bank, consider a credit union. I am constantly amazed at "experts" saying what great value there is in cos like C. Check out a credit union and what it has to offer in terms of rates and products; they beat the banks EVERY TIME. There is no value whatsoever in C; once enough people realize this and recognize that this is true, C and the rest of them will be viewed as they should be, commodity players. This painfully obvious fact is ignored by most people.
