they last about 2 months here...apr/may

Ah, here they are commonly planted in late summer and almost always last beyond Christmas, often all winter unless it is really cold. We don't go below freezing all that often or for very long most winters. I never thought about why I didn't see them in the summer. In NJ, where I grew up, my mother used to plant them for summer, I'm sure, but I'm vague about how they held up.
