Tellabs sees Q3 below views; cutting 800 jobs (9:24 AM ET) Tellabs(TLAB: news, chart, profile)is saying that it expects third-quarter sales to drop 15 to 25 percent from its second-quarter total of $345 million, resulting in a loss for the period. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial/First Call were looking for breakeven results on sales of $339.8 million in the quarter. The Naperville, Ill., communications equipment firm cited weak spending by North American carriers for the shortfall. As part of plans to align expenses with revenue, the company will reduce its workforce by 800 employees. The stock closed Wednesday at $5.76, up 7.9 percent.
