For months now, the "longs" have been questioning: What is the viability of the future of this company? Sun Microsystems has spoken on this. This is the company that loves its own components. This is the company that does not sacrifice its pieces or its values. This is the company that gives the internet viable technologies allowing our core to remain stable, and if you wish to know why you will perish--you who dread knowledge--this company will go forth and tell you. You have heard it said that Sun is an age of financial crisis. You have said it yourself, half in fear, half in hope that the words have no meaning. You have cried that Sun is destroying itself and you have cursed its figurehead for his unwillingness to practice the virtues you demanded. Since virtue, to you, consists of short term gains, you have demanded that Sun Microsystems cut its limbs off at every successive disaster. In the name of a return to profitability, you have demanded an end to all those evils which you held as the cause of the current share price. The tech sector does not live by the mind, you say? Sun has acquired and kept the part of the sector who does. The tech sector is impotent, you say? Sun has acquired and kept those who can contribute a spark. The stock is being pummeled, you say? Sun has acquired and kept the people who are incredible at making servers, not making money for the shareholders. And as to why Sun's investor relations' voice has vanished, the investor relation people you find comfort in listening to, and dreaded to lose, it is Sun who has taken them away. Do not attempt to bother them. Sun chooses not to care. Do not cry that it is Sun's duty to bleed for your short term gratification. Sun does not recognize such duty. Sun and the REAL long term shareholders are on strike against "longs" who demand cuts in their own company. We are on strike against the dogma that the long term investment of companies is evil. We are on strike against the doctrine that investment in Sun Microsystems is incredibly risky. To all of the longs that demand cuts: Sun has no demands to present to you, no terms of bargain about, no compromise to reach. You have nothing to offer Sun. SUN DOES NOT NEED YOU. I will be back in 12 months to reclaim this stock. Galt.
