My belief is that the war has started. It will be gradually escalated and will involve use of special forces as described in the article you provided us. World opinion will be against us but it will also be calling on Saddam to comply with both old and perhaps new UN resolutions. If Saddam wants to remain in power, all he has to do is give these weapons up. That probably is his only out. Saddam has shown no signs of this and at some point that tacit offer will be withdrawn. As time goes on Saddam will be shown to be a paper tiger(i prey) and the world seeing that his demise is imminent will be all over him then and curry favor with the victors as always. The Arab states will tone down their rhetoric and try to influence Bush as to what the next regime should look like.
Simultaneous with the iraq move, relations will start to improve between the Israelis and Pslestinians with the promise of billion in american aid for the new palestinian state a few years out and millions now for the PA. Arafat will become irrelevent to both israel and palestine and Sharon will play the role of De Gaulle in Algeria as Israel starts the painful process of evacuating the settlements that are neither contiguous or defensible.
Next step saudia arabia and iran. Mike
