arabs for the most part are muslim so IMO they can not be very intelligent. islam is very dangerous, just look around the world and see how many innocent people are murdered in the name of islam.

lorne, I still disagree.

God meant the Qur'an to be interpreted by Muslims. The interpretations of the Qur'an are also meant to be updated as circumstances change, because God know's that people evolve over time. IMO, this one aspect of Islam alone is evidence to me of a very sophisticated religion. Because some Muslims misinterpret the Qur'an, that does not make Islam evil.

As you can see from this previous post below, there are many possible interpretations of the Qur'an. Not just any Muslim has the proper training and experience to correctly interpret the message, I heard an Egyptian cleric state categorically, the it requires 16 years of study before one can be called a true cleric.

Also, because someone uses an ancient interpretation that was done by a cleric of the time, does not make it a legitimate interpretation for Muslims today.

lorne, the fanatics who attacked us were fools, but that does not make Muslims in general fools.
The fools who attacked us misinterpreted the Qur'an IMO. This is an excerpt from some of my research.

"One of the disciplines for the study of the Qur'an is exclusively dedicated to the study and documentation of acceptable and unacceptable variant readings. According to Muslim scholars, there are some 40 possible readings of the Qur'an, of which 7 to 14 are legitimate. The legitimacy of different possible interpretations of the scripture is supported by a statement in the Qur'an that describes verses as either unambiguously clear, or as ambiguous because they carry a meaning known only to God. Therefore, with the exception of a small number of unquestionably clear injunctions, the meaning of the Qur'anic verses is not alway's final."
