Then you see no disconnect and are not troubled by Cheney's flip flop of characterizing Saddam? He went from being a "legal" customer to a heinous dictator deserving of removal.

Nope.. Not since 9/11.. Which I seem to factor into my analysis and you do not.

We're in a different world than 2000. It was one thing to seek moderating policies when this nation was not being directly threatened.

But now the Pandora's box has been opened. We have militant muslims targeting the US, and some evidence that Iraqi intelligence were involved (Prague meeting with Atta). Thus, ridding ourselves of Saddam is one of the primary steps towards closing it again.

Whereas we might have had the luxury of patience to contain and "rehabilitate" Saddam, I suggest that is no longer the case.

After all, we have a war to fight, and Iraq will provide an nice staging base to deal with the real enemy..

The Wahhabi Sect who lurk behind the militant Islamic movement.
