Bombardier Flexjet Receives Fourth Consecutive FAA Diamond Award
ORLANDO, FLORIDA--SEPTEMBER 9, 2002 - 16:18 EDT
Company also obtains AS9100 certification for dedication to Quality Assurance standards
Bombardier Flexjet(R) is pleased to announce that it has received its fourth consecutive Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Diamond Award from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA Diamond Award is the agency's highest honor presented for a company's commitment to training, and recognizes training levels for aircraft maintenance professionals throughout the airline industry.
To qualify for the prestigious FAA Diamond Award, at least 25 percent of an airline's maintenance technicians must pass specialized, continuous training in various aircraft systems, regulations and FAA rules over a 12-month period. More than 70 per cent of Bombardier Flexjet's maintenance technicians have completed the program during the last calendar year.
In addition, Bombardier Flexjet has received AS9100 certification, the aerospace version of the ISO 9000 international standard for quality in business management. The AS9100 management system helps ensure that design, manufacturing and aviation support services function as intended. It also focuses on preventing problems before they happen, and provides customers with another benchmark confirming that Bombardier Flexjet effectively manages quality in its operations - from technical proficiency, testing, design, purchasing and document control to customer service and satisfaction - every day.
With safety, reliability and customer service at the forefront of the aviation industry, AS9100 certification is becoming a requirement for companies wishing to do business in today's global marketplace.
"Our recent AS9100 certification, combined with our fourth consecutive FAA AMT Diamond Award, demonstrates our commitment to quality," said Luis Planas, manager of quality assurance, Bombardier Flexjet. "Our company-wide commitment can be best described by the policy statement made by Mike Kanaley, our vice-president, technical services - 'We Say What We Do, Do What We Say, and We Can Prove It'."
About Bombardier Flexjet
Established in 1995 and based in Dallas, Texas, Bombardier Flexjet offers a turnkey program allowing individuals or companies to purchase a share in a Bombardier business jet at a fraction of the full ownership cost. Flexjet owners simply select the most appropriate aircraft type for their needs, determine the number of hours per year they need to fly, and purchase shares of the Bombardier business jets starting at a share size of 1/16th (equal to 50 hours flying per year). Flexjet guarantees 24-hour access to its fleet with as little as four hours notice and can fly into ten times the number of airports available to commercial flights, giving its passengers maximum travel flexibility. Owners pay predictable monthly management and usage fees, while Bombardier Flexjet manages aircraft maintenance, flight crews, hangars, fuel and insurance on their behalf.
Flexjet is the only fractional provider that fields the complete family of Bombardier business jets, including the Learjet(R) 31A, Learjet 45, Learjet 60 and Challenger(R) 604. The Bombardier Challenger 300 and Learjet 45 XR and the Learjet 40 will be added to the fleet in 2003.
