I'd argue that by overthrowing legitimately elected democratic governments - and putting in a hand-picked dictator - we guarantee problems for ourselves down the road, as people everywhere desire freedom and prosperity and human rights just as we do... and by thwarting democratic aspirations we create trouble and ill-will for ourselves.
