You ignore the answers when you don't like them. At the end of the year it was not clear what schemes that Cheney and his oil buddies had cooked up. Clinton was releasing oil from the petroleum reserve but it takes time before that translates into electricity. In the mean time Enron was sending e-mail instead of electricity.

If all that happened was some quick price spikes and profits then it would have been a short payday for the perpetrators. The real money was to come from permantly higher prices and the expansion of the extortion to other states. That is where Cheney's help was needed, and that is where the scheme fell apart. Perhaps the delay in Junior's selection made it harder for Cheney to assert policy demands at the close of the year, perhaps he was as much a bungler at it seems, but the case is clear: Cheney went to bat for Kenny Boy and friends as quickly as he could, stopped any strategic energy shipments, started packing the FERC, held his secret energy conferences, and above all insisted that consumer price raises was going to be the only solution supported by the administration.

The scheme failed and now all that is left is the stonewalling coverup.
