The term "warlord" makes me think of fingernails scratching on the blackboard....Reminds us yet again of man's inhumanity to man. I think of Warlords as the most primal form of government. A chieftain (generally self-proclaimed by dominating all opponents) who rules by the force of his own will and charisma, accountable to now one but himself and a small group of sub-chieftains who do his bidding. But what we see most of all in Africa and the middle east is tribalism, since any leader must have an organized group of followers and the tribal/clan system is ready made for such purpose. Hawk
