Have found the information. The issue was $100,000,000, 5 1/4%, 2008 and is redeemable after 1/15/04 @ $5.52! Does not qualify as a death spiral convertible as the holders can short with impunity only down to their conversion price, ie, $5.52! I read a short statement issued by the company and will do some more digging, but unless there are other provisions than those in the October 2001 filing which I read, it is unlikely that the convertible holders are shorting at these levels as they will have to ante up $5.52/share should they wish to redeem!
