Hi Win Smith; I have to admit that I would never have thought that Bush would figure out the brilliant plan of keeping the reason to invade Iraq secret from everybody, thereby proving that the United States doesn't need any allies.

P.S. It's obvious to everybody that the "senior Turkish delegation" that was sent "to Iraq in defiance of Washington" is actually composed of Special Forces undercover military operatives. I wonder if they're there to scope out targets or if they're going to do SH in themselves.

Disarm Iraq Quickly, Bush to Urge U.N. washingtonpost.com

In which it is confirmed that the 10 minutes per leader W spent on the horn did, indeed, include translation time.

Launching the international consultations he promised last week, Bush yesterday telephoned the leaders of China, Russia and France, who offered little but resistance. Bush's aides said he began the calls -- which lasted 30 minutes altogether, including the translations -- by saying that he wanted to talk to the leaders about world security. "We need to work together to make the world peaceful," he was quoted as saying. Bush told the leaders that he will send high-level officials to each of their capitals after his U.N. speech.

43's consultations on this front seem to be a parody of 41's. I wonder if that's intentional. The elapsed time quoted here certainly had to come directly from the WH.
