Is it really honesty and being real, to be a person you are not when in 3d? Or do people take advantage of the anonymity of the web, to let out small parts of their personalities, which they never exercise in 3d. And, if so, isn't that highly unreal- like a fantasy? Doesn't that make this Walter Mitty's fantasy island- where powerless people can try to make power grabs, where drab little ignored people can try for popularity, where people can try to rid themselves of demons they cannot exorcise in 3d?

I don't know the answer. I used to think the SI persona was more real, but now I don't. I think the SI persona we create is more about wish fulfillment than it is about "reality." And I think frequently even the person behind the persona is ignorant of that situation.
