zeev,
A couple of ifs for you. If arafat becomes the titular leader only and new actual leaders deplore terror from a moral perspectivefor its effect on both arabs and israelis, (not just tactical), is it possible for Sharon to then become Israel's De Gaulle and negotiate the deal that gives Palestinians a state in that three year time frame? From some private dialogue, i have had with others my fear is that some Likud may choose to use the war in iraq as a pretext for further crackdowns and ultimate expulsion of Palestinian Arabs to other lands. How do you see this playing out? Which side will Sharon be on in this scenario? My view is that Expulsion would be a disaster for Israel in the long run. Mike
