SIer formerly known as Joe B,

You passed the eye exam - excellent eyesight!

The problem may be mine. Assuming ... or, we might have that to look forward to - Xmas is coming.

The links I posted after the siliconinvestor.mall.com link would not have shown up as mall unless you clicked through the mall WebPage and I am sure no one thought to do that. I think I pasted a regularly link in there - dumb. I realized that error after I posted. Anyone who clicked on the last 3 links, would have seen a normal SI page - that was a HUGE posting mistake on my part.

The links on this orig. post #subject-53284 and some info in #reply-17965735 may explain what went on last night and early this morning while I was on SI. I would not be the least surprised if they were doing work on WebPages while I was clicking around. At one point they had a gif in view, marking the placement of an ad - The gif was an ad, for WebUndies. It was on my profile page, the home page, and showed up here and there on the site.

I also run Noads ... and Ad-Aware and ... Zone Alarm Pro and ..... you get the picture?

Unrelated, but I also use MailWasher and love it! Wednesday I told a friend that the Norton was not end-all ultimate protection against the Kletz. Thursday she emailed me her computer caught it!

I have not had any popups on SI and have not had any attempts show up in the logs. I have cookies set to accept SI cookies (but not 3rd party ones, if they try and I don't think SI requires them). I also have visited several opt-out pages to add protection against certain banners, popups, cookies, i.e., doubleclick, X-10 #reply-17963576 . In addition, I surf with as many as a dozen browsers open at the same time, IE and Netscape.

I do not believe the previous posts I have read about popups or banners on SI. (Well, I wouldn't put it past them or any website to try it once or twice to get a reaction.) IMO those posters might have come from one of those sites that, just as your leaving, bids you adieu with a banner or popup; from another browser that is open; spyware on their computer, or a virus. I spend hours on SI and am online (dial-up ISP) an average 320 hours/month. I always have one browser open to SI - bad habits die hard - and no-banners/popups is one thing that makes SI a pleasant place to park.

FWIW I am not an SI basher, but the SI of today is not the SI of Go2Net days either - remember those days :)))))

Merry

P.S. I remember that day - I was watching CNBC when (was it Joe Kernan?) gave the poster's name, etc. I jumped in my computer chair and went straight to the SI to check you out.

May I have your autograph? Or is your post to me considered equivalent? ;)
