Hello Maurice, <<Until there is hourly-rate inflation, gold is doomed to ... 'trading range' action from gold [and platinum and silver and other baubles]>>

We shall see Mq. For you and I both, we do not get what we expect, we only get what we deserve;0)

<<China ... Cruising past US$1000 GDP per capita ...>>

I had once commented on the way China diligently experiments, sometimes fails, ruthlessly chuck out failed experiments, then try new experiments ...

Message 15332627
"China has been experimenting with village level democracy for the past 5 years observed by Ford Foundation, and intends to introduce voting in selected cities “soon” in the same manner it first experimented with special economic zones before the current phase of nationwide economic reform. The economic direction of the country will make Reagen proud, and the political direction will supercede Japan, Korea, Taiwan in probably 10-20 years, hopefully never reach the level of the Philippines and not go the way of Russia."

Message 16178484
"Let me suggest that should China fail to ascend to superpower (at least economically) status, the world will have failed in a grand experiment and become that much less bright"

... and experimentally, the industrial zones are generating between USD 10-15k per capita, and now the more successful experiments are being rolled out beyond the perimeters of industrial zones and coastal areas, as the special economic zone/coastal regions force-marched up the value chain or suffer the cost of rising wages without the benefit of rising income, in deadly serious competition with the inland areas.

Chugs, Jay
