Of course, some beg to differ about things Carter was doing behind the scenes: middleeastdialogue.org I wonder if Zbig still considers it "foolish". It really would be interesting to know because I have my days when I consider the threat from Islamists to be overrrated, despite their capacity to cause considerable pain & suffering. So far, all I'm seeing is a cowardly bunch that capitalizes on fighting in the dark, with women, children, the unarmed, and sleeping soldiers as their principle targets. Can they fight an armed foe face to face? It's pretty rare when they do and win. Is Duane available these days?
