Whether the invader is the SS or the US, she must accept getting shot in the head as a result of her actions. It's either that or make damn sure she wins. There is no wrong or right in war. Get over it. The south were not wrong and the north right. You are acting as if the commies in the north were the justified crew, blameless and opressed by the US. Where did you get that idea? What about a few million opt-outs in the south? They don't count? Diem was corrupt but Ho was saintly because he was for independence? Interesting group of prejudices. You pick you politics and your side. Then you fight. If you win, your side was brave, noble and generous in victory and works towards an honourable peace. If you lose you are an asshole. The north were not nice. They were communist thieves and autocrats. We have seen their kind throughout oppressed states of Asia and Europe. After the war they were responsible for a million deaths. Killing them by the million would have been amply justified. Marching into Hanoi and hanging the independent bastards would have been fitting retribution. Nixon and Johnson were wrong all right. wrong not to wage all out war. The only reason I think they did not, is because of the Russian-Chinese tensions at the time. They feared a war with Russia. At the time, Russia had to be talked out of dropping nukes on China. It was close. In the end I don't think the fall of Vietnam, would have spurred Russia or China to war. They did not see it as a collection of dominoes. We have our collection of blind and arrogant politicians. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance on our own kind. Let's stop talking nonsense. The US did not colonize Japan, and they would not have colonized Vietnam. They may be in danger of ruining the economy of Canada and Mexico, but if you like free trade, I guess that is your choice.
