I Guess It Is Possible

But looking at a monthly chart of $INDU, and looking at the close for October prior to the election, it appears that Tricky Dick was the only one to pull it off.

$INDU closed at 139.7 in October '35 while it closed at 151.90 in October '39.

In Dick's case, $INDU closed at 879.70 in October 67 and it closed at 839 in October '71. Although in the 7 months prior to October, and in fact October '71 as well it was above 879 for at least part of each month. (Besides, didn't he cheat. <gg>)

But I wasn't aware that there was a single case, your point is well taken, so I guess the Shrub could have a chance even if the market does not recover.
