btw I watched this movie (2nd time I seen this) this afternoon. It's fictional but based on some real experience. The USA knows how to explore the outer edges of the envelope.

/edit. The strategic bombing offensive did attract a huge amount of attention from the Nazi Eastern Front imho. I still believe it's contribution is underestimated. Sure more USA fighters would have helped, but on the day the guys at the thin edge of the wedge did the job with the tools at hand. In the film you see 2 German fighters getting shot down to every bomber. The truth was the other way around. You got to hand it to those guys... they fought the war effectively as they could.
