The opposite. He's a secularist and he loathes the theocratic fascists like al Qaeda. The U.S. media has done a fabulous job at disinformation on this topic. Americans are almost completely duped on the matter.

Saddam Hussein has modeled himself on Stalin. Not the first name that comes to mind when one thinks about Islamic leaders.
