but I enjoy many of Ray's posts

Why don't you "People Mark" Raymond, and then you can enjoy all of his posts? Raymond is a frequent poster on many different SI boards.

IMO there are quite a few people who have been offended by some of Raymond's posts, especially several posts he made after 9/11.

I think an objective appraisal would reveal that it is sometimes not the subject matter but the viewpoint that is found repugnant

IMO someone who made an objective appraisal of Raymond's post after 9/11 would find his viewpoint repugnant. SI has decided to remove this post where Raymond described the victims of 9/11:

"As far as "the innocents" is concerned, are you pulling my leg about the denizens of the WTC being innocents? Good grief, I trade against them, innocent isn't exactly the adjective I'd use."

This one hasn't been removed...yet:

"The best way to end America's run as a republic and move up to being a full-blown and heinous empire is to blow up the Capitol with a "dirty nuke" on October 15. This gives enough time for the Supreme Injustices to weight in an allow the guys who are pulling the Shrub's strings to get martial law totally in place before the elections. Neat, huh? End of America, as we knew it. "

IMO the ability to have a Moderated Board is a positive feature.

Cinderella,

Okay, two points. First, this thread is not a political thread, although at certain times when the markets got dull we did lapse into some discussions of how best to do this or that. In general it wasn't very productive and I think most people would really like to use this thread to look at the markets and general market directions from a macro point of view. We haven't delved into politics or military strategy very often in the last 6 months or so and I think everybody is happier about it. But once you get one post by Ray, you get scores and then hundreds and it's literally never-ending--just click on his name and you can read all the Ray you want.

Second, so far you are the only person who thinks we need Ray on this thread. The number of contra posts and contra p.m.s was extremely convincing. And overwhelming. And has been from the start. I'm a believer in Gresham's Law until it is proven otherwise: the bad coin will drive the good coin out of circulation. Saw that in SD and you even see it, in an odd way, in the BBR, where a discussion of PGO got out of hand and instead of being an oil services / natgas / energy / world economy thread for a while it became a "what is the likely fate of an ill-managed POS Norwegian seismic company?" thread.

People come to HTP for information, not diatribe. (Btw, I didn't actually know the kinds of vile bs Ray posts which Libby was kind enough to cite for you; in my book he has been a political crackpot of the first order from the beginning and I've skipped past his interminable, ad nauseum, ad personam posts.)

But anyway, to be fair, I'll open up the polls to all the regulars and irregulars here if they want more Ray. If not, I'll accept silence as vote.

Finally, I don't mean this to sound snippy but you and Ray could easily start a thread, call it "The Real Truth" or "Free Speech."

[PS: this is not a foodfight. A foodfight indicates a new turn in the market, this indicates just a little housekeeping I should have taken care of when first requested quite a while ago. As for my calling Ray "stupid," I mean how many times do you have to explain how the p.m. function is partly functioning and partly mal?]
