In case you didn't notice, the less expensive $251 Pentium 4 2.5GHz also does the trick. Unfortunately for AMD, those paper launched 2400+ and 2600+ Athlons still haven't reached the distributor channel, making them irrelevant to any comparison you try to make. In other words, the $145 Athlon you mention is still their top-of-the-line.
