Ho was a nationalist first, the rest came later and was secondary in importance, auxiliary to the main cause imho ... same thing was happening to the vietnamese under the french, as was happening to the mexicanos under the porfiriato, their land was being taken from them to set up huge landholdings like feudal estates, given in some cases to local hacendados collaborating with the french, in others directly to the french ..... same same around Anenecuilco Morelos from whence came Zapata, was he a 'communist', no he would likely have been unclear as to what the term meant, he is called sometimes an 'agrarian reformer', which would serve yes, but really what he was doing was returning stolen property .... people starved when foreign sugar growers took their land, they had nowhere to grow food .... you can call them names all day if you like, but i think it is a more accurate representation to call them 'robbed', 'landless', and 'hungry'

When Ho was in the UK he wasn't particularly marxist, as i recall ... mind you i've never really studied that period so much, never cared, it matters not .... what is important is that he was first and foremost a nationalist, wanted independence for his people, freedom from foreign occupation .... he tried to make a presentation for independence to Woodrow Wilson at Versailles in 1919, you know ... got turned down, but records of this exist - Truman was not the first US president into whom he tried to talk sense

You're not going to change my mind, EC, without coming up with new info ... perhaps we can agree to disagree ... or in your case, to keep missing my point -g- ..... now look, you've taken up all the late afternoon free time while i was going to look into that Pepe thing you posted on Winter .... Greene of Cananea used to work the property, it says, that's an old name from la Revolución, you know .... later
