We can't stand for this....

Saudis won't open natural gas fields, report says (OSX, XNG, UTY, XOM, RD) By Steve Gelsi
In an unexpected move, Saudi Arabia is reportedly reversing course on a decision to allow U.S. oil firms to tap key natural gas fields within its borders, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The move marks tension between Saudi Arabia and the U.S. following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, violence in Israel, and U.S. talk of ousting Saddam Hussein. The action appears to have ended a yearlong plan by U.S. companies and others to invest $25 billion in Saudi Arabia. Western oil companies have not been permitted to produce oil or gas within Saudi borders, although there is some ownership of Saudi oil and chemical plants. The Saudi stance was outlined in a letter to Exxon Mobil (XOM) and Royal Dutch Shell (RD) . A scaled down plan is still possible, but it appears that the richest regions are off limits.
