Ed,

I think you'll be back, but I've been wrong before; you could look it up. When this thread first started it was sort of a refuge for oil/energy types but gradually it evolved into what it is, primarily through the efforts of a core group of people who wanted to look at the markets with as much clarity as possible.

The big question (Kollmnh had this one) was: what is the thread going to be about and will it be worth reading/posting/lurking?

Markets are hard enough to suss out, politics and religion are interminable and pretty much intolerable. 9/11 threw us into shock and for a while there was a lot to debate, but that was more of a hiatus than anything else.

But now it is more important than ever that we keep our heads about us and not get distracted. To me the number of posts per week was always irrelevant; I'd be happy with 5-10 thoughtful posts, or thoughtful questions, per week.

And of course good luck to you and Ray with your new thread :^-)

I have to agree with Ed on this one. Even though Ray is a little wacko (ok a lot wacko), he is harmless and could come up with a few funny lines here and there. I see no reason to ban him. This thread discusses about everything other then individual stocks. I mostly read this thread for entertainment and its macro type views with a strong technical bent.

I haven't posted much anymore since SD because we rarely discuss individual plays anymore. But I have to say goodbye as well, this thread is just getting too restrictive in its views.

Wish everyone good luck and success.

Ed...

Come back soon. Civility in the midst of strong philosophical differences is a sign of intelligence.

A good friend of mine once told me.... "The sign of a smart man is one who surrounds himself with others smarter than himself. The sign of a both smart and WISE man is one who surrounds himself with smarter people than himself that disagree with him."

I got in too late to vote on the Ray thing... I personally find the way he expresses himself to not speak well of him. I actually wondered if he was a "right wing plant" trying to make the left look foolish.... However, since he can no longer defend himself, I will leave it at that.

Other than I vote (too late) that KB suspend him for a month then let him back should he choose.

Anyway, ed, hope to hear your talk on investing here in the future...
