I would not say that your best response is less you than shooting from the hip. In fact, in my view, our personalities are only rooted in our unedited psyches, but are really the result of reflection and choice. In other words, a persona is always at least partially a conscious construction. My Self is larger than my persona, and encompasses a fuller range of emotion and impulses than are given play by my persona. However, there is no reason for me to "own" every stray impulse that comes into my head, and consider it deeply relevant to my broader Self, and there is reason to take my persona as more relevant than the Self, insofar as it is selects and reconciles various motivations, and makes possible coherent action and expression. In that sense, I think I will see you more clearly once you have a chance to reflect and edit. What you see as artificial (highly filtered and edited), I see as reflecting one's best effort to express oneself. As for the "Who are they question",to me the answer is pretty simple: they are the persona that shows forth their deepest thoughts and choices, primarily.......
