You can post/quote 30% of a story as long as you credit the author and publisher. This is not statute law, but it is accepted journalistic precedent. If you post 100% of a copyrighted story, it may be called violation of copyright. Certain internet rags used to repost my entire newsletter in their mail outs and charge for it! Publishment of the link is good form but it has never been proven required.

Generally unless the plagiarized/quoted author can prove economic harm, there is zero chance of getting dinged for excessive quoting. So if you don't charge for it, and the source is "free" so to speak there is scant chance of getting hit for quoting. You can prove the source is free, by putting in the link.

I am sure that the WSJ and CNN have discounted the number of cut and pastes they get and will not chase cars on this.
