You are assuming that the flows are being measured correctly. They aren't, without even considering the issue of accurately measuring the value of services rendered (of which the US is a net exporter). The state of the current account is simply not as bad as reported. Anyway, why should you trust the current account figures, but nothing else released by the US government?

If your scenario were to happen, I would benefit greatly given my positions in Euro-denominated bonds, physical gold, and mining shares. I am not holding my breath, however.
