Dealer,

On September 11, dozens of capable airplane passengers allowed themselves to be overpowered by a handful of poorly armed terrorists because they did not comprehend the depth of hatred that motivated their captors.

There is another way to look at this. Dozens of brave folks on Flight 93, when they DID comprehend the depth of hatred that motivated their captors, sacrificed their lives to save hundreds of unknown others. Would I have responded in the same selfless manner? I sure hope so.

RE: Evan's letter.

It's a day of mourning. Not a day of placing blame or pumping political agendas.

It's a day to try to heal a little more.

That letter picks at the scab.

Poor timing in the writing of it. He could have picked a better day.

<EDIT> Scratch that. I realize that I just picked a bad day to read it.

Dealie--what kind of posting is this!

1) I live in NYC and it is a hard day for all of us here...very hard

2) The world is not actually divided into liberals and conservatives...but made of individuals, all of whom have different views. Its far too easy to make liberals bad and conservatives good and its that kind of thinking, that black and white thinking, that dehumnization of others, that in its worst manifestation leads to events like 9/11

The greatest fighting going on right now is within the Bush administration, if you read the latest issue of Foreign Affairs it lays it out in detail--Bush's Dad and Powell and others want a softer approach, but some of the so-called neo conservatives from his Dad' sadministration don't--THEY are fighting--whereas the democrats and republicans are actually fairly much in sync about what to do

I find that this poster, this retired Marine, has little sense of the complexity of human nature, and just wants to point the finger--

We are all changing, and our views shift as our experience does.
