We live in a largely Christian society, and it is from that that the term derives its connotation. You can contort yourself as much as you please, but even you know that I am right, and that Ray meant it as a positive characterization of the terrorists......

If it were a fundamentalist Jew who decided to get rid of the Muslim defilement of the tomb of Abraham and started shooting into a crowd indiscriminately,until cut down himself, I wonder if the word "martyr" would occur to you or Ray to characterize him, as opposed to, say, "murdering fanatic".......
