But as far as unassisted (no add-on lenses) macros are concerned, the Nikon Swivels are the Kings.
Note that I've made that claim before, and it has gone unchallenged, even though the members of this
thread are unabashedly brand biased.

Well, that's the part that I've noticed as I've been reading all of the specs on the different cameras. I haven't really found anything that has the same capabilities as the Nikons without getting into add-on lenses, etc.. I'm planning on getting the LED macro light too as I know I will use that a lot, having shot macro with the DVcam.. the lens often interferes with light sources.

Actually, I was kind of hoping someone would propose a "Close-ups" contest for the thread, but it hasn't happened yet. Guess I'll have to wait for that to happen.

As for the manual and the camera settings, etc... I'll probably be okay with that. I've been messing with computers, electronic gadgets and cameras for years, so I don't mind when a piece of equipment takes a bit of fiddling around with to get to the stage of feeling comfortable. I'm hoping to get right out and do a lot of shooting of fall mushrooms and other fungi, and also some slugs and land snails, so the camera and I will get to be good friends (or possibly enemies) in very short order.

Hmmm... guess that means I should get going and go look at that camera, eh?
