Patron, no offense to you, but just the thought of Cramer invoking bill's name makes me sick, it's so wrong.

Patron: Bill was a great pal to many of us on this thread. I agree wholeheartedly with the quoted column. I recall doing a couple of "stand-ins" for Bill (he would call and say, "I need a days' break, so you've got the morning column,.... don't be too outlandish."). I loved doing it and considered it an honor. On one of those occasions, I wrote a particularly critical commentary on Rambus, which at the time was a real "darling" stock. Bill's telephone (as well as my own) "lit up" with irate calls. In response to the many calls for a "retraction" of the column, Bill merely noted that he thought I might well be correct and that no retraction would be forthcoming. A gutty response given the "heat" and a perfect measure of the man. God bless him. Best, Earlie
