Agree Bryan; "What this tells us is the smart money ain't buying at this level, and dumb money (mutual funds, etc.) don't have any cash (actually they may be getting squeezed to sell)."

Mr Market is the Smart money?

It's easy to be smart when your in control of conditions to support trends you manufacture. When you know insiders might sell some shares to alleviate Short positions as agreed by IB advisors, etc. CEO's are not talking so they are not providing any hope; Many Mutuals are losing subscriber monies and so an engineered handoff of shares is not only predictable, it's simply a matter of foresight.

Seasonality predicts more down in the short term. Tax losses are so great right now that the Tax selling season will be a non event, unless Bush announces nuances to the current program on the books ( I predict this to help fuel even more selling.

I am as cynical as I can get relating to the current trend. To Investors, Mr Market is everyones enemy, and he wants what all Smart Investors hold, scarce supply. Meeting him at the window when sellers are forced out is just good business.

Best advice; be prudent in the face of his shenanigans.

Buying on the down days.
