Money market funds attract $32 bln in latest week by Craig Tolliver
Taxable money market funds attracted nearly $29 billion in the latest week, bouncing back from outflows of roughly $45 billion the week before, according to IMoneyNet. For the week ended Tuesday, institutional investors, who pulled out more than $42 billion the previous week, reversed course and pumped almost $32 billion back into taxable funds. Tax-free funds added $3.3 billion. Total money market assets stand at about $2.19 trillion, according to the Westborough, Mass.-based analyst. Taxable money fund yields, though, returned to record-lows with the average seven-day simple yield for all taxable funds dropping 3 basis points to 1.24 percent. Tax-Free fund average yields declined as well, down 4 basis points to 0.84 percent, IMoneyNet said.
