I posted this on the oracle thread, but I will post it here too because it is the first indication of an improving app climate for them. (although this references the "suite" approach which does seem to be gaining a little despite what Tom says). Oracle is just getting traction in their internet enabled software (3-tier) with the middleware bundled in... I think thats the sebl 7 architecture, correct?

I bought into app software even in this rough climate because imo the internet architectures are a compelling upgrade cycle. If oracle can sell 11i in this climate, that proves it. L

Oracle (ORCL) 9.66 -0.14: Banc of America expects co. to outperform market due to strong product cycles, easy yr/yr comparisons starting in November, advantaged suite-approach, and record operating margins despite today's poor environment; thinks shares offer attractive risk/reward; checks indicate co. on track to meet Q103 ests of $0.07 and will likely provide modestly encouraging outlook, particularly for improving applications results; firm encouraged by co retaining its position as "big dog in databases"; reiterates Buy rating and price target of $13. Despite bullish note, shares are 1.4% in the red on market weakness.
