One thing you should know about cable modems and connectivity....they are VERY slow on uploads. Most people will only download from the internet but if you must upload large files, you will see a world of difference between DSL and Cable.

>>and it's faster than DSL by far ...no comparison<<

you know I have earthlink DSL, in 3 years there have been 3 days when it was farked and has never lagged with many screens open and actively downloading L2 etc. It seems to me that I hear many more complaints about cable, but that is just what I seem to notice.

Again a reminder to the thread or anyone that lives in the SF Bay Area , that AT&T is offering highspeed broadband
connection with free/modem ....

Ahh....the entire Bay Area is a stretch.

They have been "spamming me" with junk mail about it for years
and then when I called claim that my apartment is not supported. At one time on their online database, only 2
apartments were excluded. My guess is "free installation"
was only for those that already have cable TV installed.
I am waiting for them to reconsile their "wanna serve you"
database with their junk mailers mailing list so I can
stop getting their spam.

Ofcourse, Earthlink(Covan) DSL works great at my location.
For others the distance from central office may make it
not work that well.
