Between the dark and the daylight,
When the night is beginning to lower,
Comes a pause in the days occupations,
That is known as Childrens' Hour.
I hear in the chamber above me
the patter of little feet
The sound of a door that is opened
and voices soft and sweet.
From my study I see in the lamplight
Descending the broad hall stair,
Grave Alice and laughing Allegra
and Edith with golden hair.
Between the dark and daylight, comes a pause,
That is known as Childrens' Hour.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882), from "Tales of a Wayside Inn" (1863).

I do not wish to engage you in a battle of wits, this is not the place and I don’t have the time. Besides it is considered unsporting to fight someone who is so obviously unarmed.
